Emergency Services Specialist

The Role
Tesla has an outstanding opportunity available for Emergency Services Specialists to join the team at our Austin, TX Giga Factory. Become part of an all-hazards risk team. During their assigned shift, the Emergency Services Specialists are responsible to carry out assignments pertaining to emergency preparedness, prevention, and response. We are responsible to respond to hazmat, emergency medical, technical rescue, and fire related emergencies.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include the following:

Emergency Prevention:

• Confined space inventory, classification, and incident pre-planning
• Emergency equipment program management (Fire extinguishers, eye wash station, first aid kit, and AED maintenance)
• Fire prevention program management including managing all site hot work.
• Hazardous chemical program management. Monitoring maximum allowable quantities, proper chemical storage, and use
• Support EHS&S initiatives to create a safe work environment
• Other duties as assigned

Emergency Preparedness:

• Develop and host tabletop exercises with stakeholders
• Develop and provide emergency drills
• Train associates with the use of a fire extinguisher
• Continuity of operations planning
• Emergency communication planning
• Emergency Action Plan awareness. Develop emergency action plans. Train associates on what actions to take during an emergency

• Emergency Response
o Provide advanced life support while responding to various medical emergencies to include trauma, chemical exposure, or personal medical emergencies.
o Hazardous chemical spill response. Respond to active leaks.
o Provide technical rescue. Confined space rescue standby. High and low angle rescue. Trench rescue. Vehicle extrication.

o Fire response. Response to fires with the use of a fire hose, fire extinguisher and related tools.

Requirements

• Integrity & trustworthiness
• Strong work ethic
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Be medically cleared by a physician to perform firefighting duties
• Pass a physical agility test
• Current National Registry EMT-B or TDSHS EMT-Basic required. Preferred National Registry Paramedic or TDSHS Paramedic
• Firefighter 1 required (IFSAC/Pro Board or TCFP structural firefighter)
• Industrial firefighting certifications and experience preferred
• HazMat Operator or Hazmat Technician certification required.
• Technical Rescue Technician preferred. Prefer experience with confined space rescue standby.
